FAQs

  • In therapy, you might explore issues related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, self-limiting beliefs, etc. in depth. You will develop insight about your strengths as well as about what has been holding you back from feeling like your best self. You will learn and practice new ways of relating to yourself, other people in your life, and your own thoughts. You’ll dig deep into your thoughts, feelings, and patterns in order to feel better able to handle hard moments when they happen. Our goal is always that you’ll leave feeling confident that you have the skills to manage whatever challenges might come up in the future.

College and career advising will provide you with targeted support with writing, telling your story to others, and making concrete plans about what’s next for you. This is time-limited support that ends with a completed product (essay, resume, personal statement) that you feel represents the best version of yourself.

  • No, you absolutely do not! You can decide which type of support feels right to you.

  • For therapy, we offer in person sessions at our office in Alameda, as well as virtual sessions.

For advising, we offer virtual sessions only. In some cases, we are able to arrange sessions at your home or at a local coffee shop.

All of our virtual sessions are offered through Jane App, a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth meeting platform.

  • We find that this allows us to be the most accessible to the most people. Some clients will choose to have a session during their lunch period at school, during a free period, or in between school and another extracurricular activity. There is also a body of evidence that demonstrates that telehealth (meeting virtually) can be just as effective as in-person therapy.

  • We are located at 2719 Encinal Ave, Suite A-2, within the Alameda Wellness Collective.

We’re a 10 minute walk from Alameda High School or Park Street, 20 minute bike ride from Encinal High School, and easily reached by the following bus lines: O, OX, 663, and 661.

  • Super simple: Download the app onto your phone or computer. Click the “start session” link that is sent to your email. Join your session! You can also use Jane App to find documents that have been sent to you between sessions, fill out paperwork, schedule/reschedule your sessions, and pay for your sessions.

  • Absolutely not. We adhere to the strictest standards of confidentiality. If you have concerns, please ask us directly! If you would like us to work together to support you, or if we think it could be helpful to you, we would have you sign a release of information form first. You are always in charge.

  • If you are under 18, your parents have a legal right to review documents and paperwork in the same way they do for any medical provider. However, almost every person we see values having a private space to talk about personal things, and we will not share the details of what you talk about in your sessions with your caregiver(s). We might encourage you to have conversations with them and will support you in having those conversations if you want our help. There are a few exceptions to confidentiality, however, which we will discuss with you fully during your intake.
